Machining process

The parts to be manufactured are usually called work pieces. They are given rough shape in the initial stages of manufacturing by methods like forging, casting etc. The removal of material is done by using some special tools and this process is known as machining. Using machining method, we can produce cylindrical parts, plane parts, spherical parts, threaded parts, gears etc. Usually machines function with the help of tools and hence they are designated as machine tools. Depending on the kind of machine used, the manufactured parts are designated as turned parts, milled parts, planed parts and ground parts.
