Mechatronics

Mechatronics is a branch of engineering where integration of mechanical and electronics streams is done. It is a multidisciplinary branch dealing with robots, next-generation machines, smart machines etc. Electronic principles are effectively used here to provide high levels of precision and reliability. Commonly used mechatronics devices are industrial robots, automated teller machines, digital watches, and calculators. Japan is the main nation where extensive work is being carried out in this field nowadays. They are doing active research in the areas of machine tools where computer numerical control is incorporated. The other active areas are electric servodrives, electronic measuring systems, ball screws, antifriction guideways, electronic watches, washing machines, fax machine and copier machine.
