Acoustical defects

The following acoustical defects should be avoided while designing any structure.
1. Long delayed echoes
2. Flutter echoes
3. Sound shadows
4. Sound distortion
5. Room resonances and
6. Background noise.
Long delayed echoes can be eliminated by accommodating absorbent materials or by acoustic plasters. Flutter echoes are a series of echoes that occur in rapid succession. By avoiding parallel walls, parallel ceilings and floors we can eliminate this type of acoustic defects. Balcony may bring sound shadows, so in the design care should be taken to avoid this. Sound amplifiers have to be used effectively to minimize sound distortion due to room resonances.
