Stroboscope

Here the principle used is a kind of high intensity light which flashes at fixed intervals. With some suitable mechanism, the high intensity light source is directed towards a rotating or vibrating object. The basic constituents of a stroboscope are an oscillator, a reed and a flasher. For the controlling of the flashing rate of the source, flasher mechanism is to be triggered using some trigger pulses. This can be accomplished by an oscillator. Usually an externally triggered multivibrator is used as an oscillator. Calibration of the stroboscope can be accomplished by a vibrating reed which vibrates at 7200 times per minute and is driven from ac lines. The flasher produces the illumination for the measurements. Trigger pulses from the oscillator discharges a capacitor which fires the flasher tube. The inert gas filled in the flasher tube ionizes and produce light.
