Fuels

Combustion is associated with fuels. Fuels are raw materials for the production of various industrial organic compounds. There exist primary and secondary fuels. Naturally occurring fuel is known as primary fuel which does not require chemical processing before the usage. Wood, coal, peat, crude petroleum, natural gas etc. are examples. Secondary fuels are produced from naturally occurring substances by undergoing suitable changes. Coke, coal gas, gasoline etc. are examples. While synthesizing secondary fuels, we often improve their calorific value and utility by means of chemical treatments.
