Wireless communication

Mobile station communicates the information with the user and modifies it to the transmission protocols of the air interface to communicate with base station. Mobile station makes use of microphone and speaker for information communication, keypad and display monitor for messaging and cable for other data communication and data exchange. The two elements of mobile station are mobile equipment(handset) and subscriber identity module(SIM). Mobile equipment is the handset which is a piece of hardware. This include speaker, modem, microphone and keyboard. Subscriber identity module card carries detailed personal information of the user. Base station consists of high power transmitters and sensitive receivers. Status of the mobile terminals is updated in a mobile switching centre which communicate with PSTN switches using the signaling system. Channels subdivides the service based on frequency. Transceiver is a device which is used for the simultaneous transmission and reception of radio signals. Radio and TV are examples of simplex system which provides only one way-communication. Walkie-talkie is an example of half duplex where two-way communication is possible but by using the same radio channel. Full duplex system allows simultaneous two-way communication.
