Diesel power station

Here energy is derived from diesel oil. This energy is converted into mechanical work. Here a DC generator is mechanically coupled to the diesel engine. The main components of a diesel power station are a diesel engine, air filters, supercharger, engine fuel system with tank, silencers, connecting ducts, cooling system, lubricating oil system, battery, starter, compressed air supply etc. We can use both horizontal and vertical type diesel engines. Horizontal engine yields smaller outputs. A vertical engine with multi-cylinder yields larger outputs. Engine speed ranges from 500-1000 rpm. Air filters remove dust and other impurities from air. To increase the air pressure, supercharger is used. For transfer of fuel from and to the engine, fuel transfer pump is utilized. The exhaust system discharges the engine exhaust to the atmosphere. Lubricating oil system lubricates moving parts. Air cooling is employed in small engines and in large engines, forced water cooling is employed. In the forced water cooling, cold water is sent through the cylinder jacket with the help of a pump. The engine can be started manually by handles or by battery-driven motors.
