Polymers are very much in use nowadays. Its attractive price and design made it an interesting research area. Even though polymer waste is a case of concern, society madly relying in polymers. Cellulose ethers are special type of polymers which can be synthesized by a reaction of an organic halide with cellulose bloated by contact with an aqueous base. As halide, chlorides are preferred over bromides and iodides. Chlorides have greater diffusivity even though it is having lower reactivity properties. The best cellulose ether in market is ethyl cellulose. The main properties of ethyl cellulose are moldability, heat stability, low inflammability and high impact strength. Ethyl cellulose has moderate electrical, mechanical and weathering properties.
